How to use Gullydeckel as chess engine in Chessbase? There is detailed information on this on the web and within the files "chessbase.htm" and "The Winboard Engine Adapter.htm" which are part of this package. As a shortcut, I have done the renaming of the *.eng file and creation of the init file already, so you should: 1. Find the folder where Chessbase (I use Chessbase 8) is installed. (e.g., c:\programs\chessbase\) 2. There should be a subfolder called "Engines" which has fritz.eng and crafty.eng (or similar) already in it. Copy gullydeckel.eng into that folder. 3. Create (within the Engines directory) a folder called "gullydeckel". Copy the files gullydeckel.exe gullydeckel.init to it. 4. Start Chessbase. Now, you can pick Gullydeckel as your engines. You are done. 5. For newer Gullydeckel versions: Get the (newer) windows binary (gully2.exe) and copy it to gullydeckel.exe (see below - Note 3 a)) Additional notes: 1. If you have problems with that, drop me a mail at gully@borriss.com Gullydeckel will create a logfile "gully.log" in that folder which may hint at problems. 2. Multi-variant mode is not supported yet. 3. Technical stuff: a) gullydeckel.exe is just the regular, but renamed, winboard chess engine gully2.exe which is will be updated from time to time. b) gullydeckel.eng is the old adapter provided by Chessbase.
